The Flintman Company were flint consultant and main flint contractor on The Flint House, Buckinghamshire. A private commission conceived and designed by architect firm Skene Catling de la Pena. The flint work changes through six shades and styles from top to bottom of the building. Eighty tons of flint were used. All were hand picked from five different quarries and graded into eight colour tones. Approximately 1.1 million gallets (thin flint flakes) were used on the main building and annex. To bed the flint, 73 tons of lime mortar were required, using six different mortar pigments.
